But France is really in trouble, big trouble.
They got too complacent. Everyone has, but they must have done a lot of things wrong.
The Greeks are at 765 cases today and panicking with some area closures and midnight to morning curfews, mask mandate everywhere, etc., but they seem to be the only EU country in control of its problem. No more late night parties in town squares by the under 25 crowds. They closed all the places around where they could buy beers and stuff and take it to the square for hanging out. That’s over now. Problem solved to a degree that makes a difference.
Everyone’s tired of it, but if there is no discipline, it is tough when you can’t do o what the Chinese did to kill it. They are at 4.9% growth again, factories at full tilt. It took them a couple of months of harsh measures, but they are almost free now to live again, although they still wear masks in the streets.
Freedom is a big word. Are we feeling the benefits of it right now, or the results of a cacophony of everyone’s idea of how that right applies under stressful conditions having to do with public health and safety? It’s a good question.
