Their model of treating the UK as punishment territory looks to be collapsing as Boris told them the UK is giving up on negotiations. They have addressed the UK with contempt, so we will go for a no deal Brexit instead.
Suddenly, they want a deal that will work for both sides. It seems they need to have their teeth knocked out before they will have a constructive conversation.
Oh well. I guess they needed to have their bluff called. The UK won't be bullied and will take the pain if we need to. But maybe now the EU will start treating the UK as a sovereign territory with whom much can be done for the benefit of all. If only they had started this way.
