42% of Americans vote for Trump in spite of him being an active racist, and not of the soft type. That's not a problem that goes away as a result of WH action. It's part of the culture.
Not sure how you fix Bananarepublicanism. You want it to be burned down and replaced. But that 42% aren't just going to disappear.
If you want another sacred cow, it's reverence for the people. I used to believe in collective wisdom, and mostly still do. But Trump's numbers are too high just to rely on it.
