What a wordy, sacherine sweet, grandiloquent, garbled, mixed metaphor of a sentence that is, expressing the tired, self-congratulatory view of the US which so badly needs to be retired.
Don't disrespect Lincoln by attaching his words to poorly-written claptrap. Lincoln was a great president and a beautiful, economical writer. He would never have written something like that.
