Re: “I don't see any reason why Office 2007 should stop working. XP still works”
I don't know if it will ever stop working. Online, I was reading complaints from people who were getting the message and saying that they were so abundant as to make the program unusable. One person said he couldn't even get Office to start. But then he said something to the effect of, "Hey I just tried again and this time it did start." That leads me to believe that with Office 2007, Microsoft is going to get increasingly obnoxious about the package being "retired." But from the beginning, I said that I don't know if it ever actually becomes unusable.

Older versions of Office may not have the hooks Microsoft needs to pull that sort of crap on its users. I do know that I ran into an issue with Office 2010 after it took Amazon three attempts to deliver the laptop computer I'd bough\t. I installed Office 2010 on the first two. The third told me that I had exceeded my license quota (did you know there was such a thing??) and could no longer install the package. That's the one I described here on Pope. micro saved me that time… It's nice to have friends - even friends I've never met! Maybe one day. Smile
