Well, yeah.
I keep telling you I had no problem opening microsoft office
files with Open Office . . .(Except for Access).

I was using Microsoft at work, and Open Office at home. No
problems going back and forth. I would imagine there are
some exotic things one does but not the other . . . But most
of the time things work pretty much the same.

With Open Office costing a fraction the cost of Microsoft.

Zim.

I just installed LibreOffice, 6.4.6.2. It was a piece of cake - easy download... easy installation. There is a version 7.0, but it's in beta with limited documentation and limited testing (meaning it's probably buggy). I don't even see what its new features are, so I'm not going to do that.

I've created a word processing document, printed it, saved it in both the LibreOffice format and as a .docx file, and tried opening the respective files with both Libre Writer and MS Word. Again, everything was straight forward. Writer is VERY Wordlike.

Next I created a test database with Libre Base, added a Authors table and form (frmAuthors) and added a little data. Yup. Everything works as it should.

Last, I downloaded the three pdfs available on Libre's site - for Writer, Calc and Base. The Calc pdf is 507 pages and the other two are almost as big. I guess I've got some reading to do.
