Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

Waste Captain?

That is the real subject here. What to do with the wastes the astronauts
on the Space Station produce.

Now, down here on earth one designs a 'new toilet' . . . with potentially
hundreds of thousands of customers the design costs per unit sold become
negligible.

But a toilet that takes care of business in zero gravity? That is going
to take a lot of design work (and money) and, being a 'one off' toilet
all the design costs are going to be found in the sales price.

Now the guys in orbit need somewhere to go . . . and not providing them
with an appropriate toilet will lead to a stinky possibly environmentally
hazardous living and working environment.

And I personally would rather see us spend the money on a new toilet for
the space station than spend it on piglosi's 'high speed rail to nowhere'
projects.

Zim.
