Zim

so the remedy was to install JAVA (JRE) on the puter because the old computer you took this from had JRE on it also? And it now works... That's actually very interesting..

I think I will stick with my old but reliable Microsoft Office 2007 . I am contemplating buying office 2013 for little to nothing. I don't know how much different that would be on the excel program or Word or Outlook...

Don't want to have to re-learn all that.

Do you have any wisdom on that perhaps? I would like to hear if you do please...

Thanks!

micro...

Not a lot of interest in the subject in here?

Anyway, long story short, I cloned the hard drive in my Windows 7 computer and installed it in another computer. I removed the password from my Access database and copied it over.

Using the old Open Office Base I tried opening the Access database- it appeared to do so but did not act right. (As in it appeared to lock up when I tried to open one of the tables.) None of the queries or Forms or reports came across either.

So I uninstalled the old Open Office and installed the latest version - 7. It opened the Access database, and 'put' the tables into a new Base database and, as before, no queries, forms, or reports came with. Just the tables and data. But at least the tables opened this time.

When I tried creating a Base database from scratch, as before it insisted I must have a Java Run Time Environment (JRE). So I installed the JRE and now it opens and I had no problem creating a simple table . . . But until I get and study some documentation on the 'how - to's' I will have an impossible learning curve to overcome.

Now. Being as I have an XP machine with Microsloth orifice 2000 and can run my database all I like with no problems . . . And being as I'd rather be studying Algebra and Python computer programming . . . I don't see me spending a lot of time on this subject.

Zim.
