the wuestion eally becomes who made up that word?
It has not always existed in the English language.. I am not positive but I suspect it was simply added at someone's whim... Wonder what the actual real origin of that disphemysm is. I have never heard that word before until now, like you and I was an English major as well as a Engineering major.
I granulated with double majors in my undergraduate studies. My youngest daughter follwed her fathers footsteps so I was flattered. American History and Poly Sci. She grauduated valedictorian. I on the other hand, did not..... lol!!!! SO now I take a back seat to her...
Sorry, Zim ... that ... uh ... "dysphemism" ... made me chuckle out loud. Reminds me of another crass term I have been known to use on occasion ... one that I try real hard NOT to use on these boards too often ... "sucks big green donkey dicks."

BTW, I ejimukated myself, today. I knew our terms were the polar opposite of euphemisms, but I didn't know the word for that ... so, I looked up the antonym for "euphemism" and voila - "dysphemism." I've got a fairly broad vocabulary, but I must admit that I have never come across this word before. I guess I will have to add it to my list of $10 words.
