This is interesting . . .
I just pulled down a pdf on BASE . . . and it says it should be able to
open Access databases. I tried opening mine but it didn't like the fact
that I pass word protected it long long ago.

I may have to re-visit this. If I can port my database to BASE I might
be able to leave microsnot all together.

https://documentation.libreoffice.org/assets/Uploads/Documentation/en/BH4.0/PDF/BH40-BaseHandbook.pdf

I do not know how good this pdf file, or BASE is . . .

Re: “Libre Office is close enough to microsoft office that you should not have any problems at least using it. ... to my knowledge there is no equivalent or replacement for Microsoft Access.”
Thanks buddy. I appreciate the information.

The newest version of Libre doesn't have an equivalent to Access, but it does have a replacement: A tool called Base. That's the main reason I was leaning toward LibreOffice even before your reply. I need a database. Fortunately, it's been many years since I've used Access so I'm not going to miss it too much. UNFORTUNATELY, I might not find textbooks for Libre Base, and online documentation is rarely as good as a quality book. I'm sure I'll manage, though.

I'll install Libre as soon as MS Office starts getting obnoxious about its "retirement."
