Incredibly, the current US Secretary of State is apparently the only American politician taking a position that is respectful of an ally and that isn't structured as an extortionate demand.

"Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a joint White House briefing with Mr Raab: “We trust the United Kingdom. I am confident they will get this right.

"We have made clear the importance of the Good Friday Agreement. We know the complexities of the situation.”

"We have done what we can to provide assistance where we can. In the end this will be a decision for the UK to make and I have great confidence that they will get this right.”"

"As US Congressmen line up to lecture Britain on its Brexit policy, why don't MPs question whether America really has our interests at heart?"

Newspapers are asking the obvious question.

It's clear the Dems don't.

Hope they win for America's sake. And that the US can get back a Republican Party which is moderate, decent, honest and benign. So that the rest of the world can have better options.

Or split the country into smaller pieces so that the international arrogance of American politicians becomes more containable.
