a quick google:

Officially, there is no law or military regulation requiring all service members to salute Medal of Honor recipients, but you are allowed to do so when the recipient is physically wearing the medal, according to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society

A Special Medal of Honor pension of $1,366.81 (2019 rate) per month above and beyond any military pensions or other benefits for which they may be eligible.

To date, there have been 3,473 Medals of Honor awarded. Only seven Medals of Honor have been awarded since the Vietnam War, all posthumously – two for service in Somalia, one in Afghanistan and four in Iraq. The most recent Medal of Honor was given posthumously to Army Spc.

When a person wins the Victoria Cross in the UK, which is the highest of all medals for bravery, even generals have to salute them. There are only five people alive who have one.

I wonder if the same is true for the Medal of Honour in the US. Do generals salute them?
