The Dems really need to rethink how they address the UK. They've been hostile for too long. The latest thing suggests they haven't learnt anything while out of power. Still the same pro-EU, pro-united-Ireland thing. No idea that the Northern Irish have never wanted to be part of a united Ireland. Always thinking the British are motivated by the desire to control territory, when in fact we are just honouring the will of the majority of the Northern Irish people to remain in the union.

Are they going to screw up again on the other issue they always get wrong? Going too far and too fast with identity politics. Hope they don't win and spend the next four years talking about Metoo and white privilege.

Joe Biden says he's going to get in the phone to other heads of state and tell them we're back.

Could America please be back having learned the right lesson?

Enough of the greatest and the beacon and the pulpit and manifest destiny. Be loyal, as well as requiring it. Be a friend, not just a recipient of friendship. Do things because they are right, not merely because it is self-interest wrapped up as virtue.

Trump represents a part of the unrestrained American character. Don't reintroduce it in a slightly more restrained form. Purge Trumplike behaviours altogether.

How I look forward to being the one to praise an excessively humble America, rather than tamping down the self-congratulation.
