Don't bother to plan. Cut regulations.

The sentence of doom the Bananarepublicans visit upon America.

It gave the US the most expensive healthcare system in the world, because they were not willing to hinder the insurance companies.

It gave the US the flooding of New Orleans, because no one wanted to spend what was needed to protect the city.

It gave the world the 2008/9 Great Recession, leaving the market to decide the quality of its debt instruments.

It gave the US the inherited lack of oversight of the oil rig, which resulted in the contamination of the Gulf of Mexico.

It gave the US the massive spread of the coronavirus, when it turned out that Trump set aside the Obama-era preparations.

It's not that market are bad. It's that they are not entirely virtuous. They encourage people to pass risks and costs to others, unless there are rules to prevent it. Let someone else pay to train employees. Let someone else clean up after me. Let someone else pay for a floodwall. Let the people who are made ill pay for their own medical bills. Let me generate a bigger profit and garner the bonus that results from the avoidance of these costs.

Time for a new Republican party that addresses the things markets don't do well and the bad things markets promote. Or else there will be fresh disasters caused by their damaging underlying philosophies.
