Or put another way, his supporters like the fact that he bulldozes restraints on public conversation.

I have some sympathy with them, although my definitions are different. You want a broad highway for conversation. But there is a need for guardrails as well.

This is the lesson that the left finds hard to learn. That its own narrow strictures over public speech are very unappealing.

Or put another way, Trump wants Dems to fall into this trap. He will label them as woke, anti-white and in favour of an intrusive government.
