I am the wrong audience for claims that white privilege prevents black success. I don't find them at all persuasive.
They provide no explanation whatsoever for the celebrated success of semitic, Chinese and Indian peoples. How do their stories comport with the notion that white people universally oppress people with different skin tones?
But there is an issue. It's that black people are making fewer breakthroughs of the same sort as other ethnicities. And so, on average (and with exceptions) they are economically less well off, end up in prisons, are less well educated etc.
Why? Doubtless many smart people have better answers than I do.
But it's clearly a difficult problem to solve. Putting people in race-related training sessions won't fix it. Nor will blaming white people.
Liberals have to be careful on this sort of topic. Identity politics is unpopular among swing voters.
