The Dow is down because the unemployment numbers came in worse than expected. There's a limit to how much Donald Trump, a Republican, can do about the problem when NINE OF THE ELEVEN states with the biggest unemployment problems are Democrat controlled. Well, D.C., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands aren't "states," but you get the idea. The others are Hawaii, Nevada, California, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. All Democrat-controlled. All sucky places to live. All with sky-high unemployment.
