Looks like Spain will have its second wave done before the US completes its first.

Part of that is explained by size. It takes a virus longer to visit every hamlet in a country the size of the US.

And part by the weak response of the US federal government and certain states, reopening before the virus was contained.

The US is inexorably heading for the 600 deaths per 1m people threshold. So the last vestige of the argument that the US has done relatively okay is nearly done. It's close to overtaking Italy.

Looks like the US is headed for either fifth, sixth or seventh place for most deaths on a per capita basis, behind San Marino, Belgium, Peru and Andorra (as well as Brazil and Chile perhaps).

182,404 cumulative US deaths from COVID 19.

+1,290 yesterday, after first cases in January.

And this is just the first wave.

If places like France and Spain are anything to go by, there will be a second.
