one of Joey's Computer Science professors just told him that he needs to begin applying to doctorate programs.

My daughter’s professors wanted her to continue, too. One bit of advice was to work in the field to find out what area she is most passionate about and then study this for her PhD. This is the path she has taken (so far).

At the graduation ceremony, as the department head handed her the diploma, he leaned over and whispered something in her ear. Later we asked her about that and she said he expected to see her back in five years.

Good work, Joey. I am sure he will make the right decision - for him.

Re: “...joey probably didn't have any courses in rioting and pillaging in his transcript.”
This is true.

In other news, one of Joey's Computer Science professors just told him that he needs to begin applying to doctorate programs. That was the prof's idea, not Joey's.
