BREAKING: Judge finds Michael Cohen's return to prison 'retaliatory,' orders his release
A federal judge Thursday ordered the release of Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former fixer and confidant, to home confinement, agreeing with Cohen's lawyers that he was wrongly sent back to prison after making public statements critical of the president.
Cohen, released to home confinement because of the pandemic before being sent back to prison earlier this month, had refused to sign a form that included a provision that barred him from speaking to the news media and restricted him from posting on social media platforms.
"I've never seen such a clause in 21 years of being a judge and sentencing people,” the judge said. "How can I take any other inference but that it was retaliatory?"
