...he was a door gunner / radio operator on a B-17. They had to make a landing with the wheels up on his plane for some reason. Anyway he was banged up pretty good and was crippled up for the rest of his life. He didn't let it keep him from working and taking good care of his family. We didn't get along well when I was a teenager and knew everything, but later on we made peace and spent many evenings sitting on his front porch watching the foxes in his yard.

.my dad was in the air force and served in South Dakota during WWII. He kept the Germans and the Japanese from attacking SD. Not one of them got thru the blockade.
