Imagine if NY had a border with the other states and issued passports of its own.

New Yorkers could rejoin the world and travel, just like Canadians.

It's not because Americans are Americans that there's a problem. I imagine Americans living in places where the epidemic is under control can go. Whereas foreigners living in America are stuck.

But yes, because the US administration has done such a pathetic job, little or no overseas travel. In pandemic terms, the US is the global leper. No one wants American visitors because y'all are contagious, selfish (about things called "rights" by Americans unaware of other things called duties) and don't wear masks. Or so it appears. I know it's a simplification. But you are, to some extent, this, on a collective basis.

Sad that the rethinking process isn't happening. Too few people seem to be saying that the basic principles are awry. That duties and socialism aren't the same thing. Until that happens, the country will keep falling into selfishness traps. Muscular individuallism is an appealing feature. But selfishness is not a virtue.
