A picture of one in its nest at a nearby lake was in my community paper a few weeks ago. When I drove to Missouri, one crossed the road ahead of the van. And when I was fishing on a mountainous lake in California in '02 or '03, one flew over my boat. So I don't know about "common," but I know for a fact that they're widespread.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Despite being nearly driven to extinction by hunting and pesticides, the majestic raptors have rebounded into a healthy population in recent years — aided by people like Ratuski.

I don't remember seeing bald eagles (other than on TV)
back when I was a kid . . . But they have become rather
common in my corner of Virginia in recent years. But
then I am on the coast with plenty of lakes and rivers.
