Turns out some TX counties have been having reporting issue, as suspected. The "kinks" were noticeably convenient from a political perspective.

"NOTE: Texas: Bexar County reported 5,501 cases today, 691 of which represent new cases, while 4,810 were backlogged, the result of "kinks in the communication process with the state, and that cases have been underreported in the past two weeks" according to reports citing San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg. Some of the 21 reported deaths were also backlogged [source] Worldometer has redistributed the 4,810 backlogged cases over the previous 14 days based on the existing pattern of Bexar County daily case increases over the same period."

US turned out to have much the same number of new cases, as expected, although this turned out to be a record high of 73,388 (vs 71,750 yesterday).

FL looks poorly, as already mentioned.

CA was higher than expected. For me, LA figures are totally unpredictable. I suspect a reporting issue, with some counties missing daily deadlines. Otherwise, the numbers looked encouraging to me. No sign of overall increase.

TX was lower than expected. Good news. Suggests possible plateau effect.

The Deep South is building a formidable, but gradual curve. Louisiana seems to be having a proper second wave.

Otherwise, nothing stands out particularly. Broad-based growth which produces around 1k deaths every day at the moment.
