At one time, we had two dawgs from the same litter.
They lived for many years, 15 or more, and they didn't know anything else but each other. They were so cute to watch.
Then the thinner one became ill and passed. The other one, who had nothing wrong with him, suddenly died 5 days later.
We knew it was from a broken heart.
I remember calling my Mom and telling her she never prepared us for the inevitable. We were very insulated and protected.
Had my parents warned us about illness and death, it wouldn't have mattered to me.
I still would have sobbed.
Beautiful swan, and really rotten for the pranksters to kill her eggs with bricks. That was her family. Super-bummer.
