I dunno. He seems to act like some of the brutal people which populate much of it. Think of the poor Canaanites living peacefully in the land of milk and honey before Joshua came. Or the freedom-loving people of Sodom and Gomorrah before the fire and brimstone. Or the delightful lake of fire in the book of revelation. Violence is celebrated all over the place.
I am glad there are folks who pick out the nicer bits. But it is employed by bad people to justify themselves too. Remember how the south justified slavery?
