Re: "I am ready to retire."
There's a lot of that going around. I spoke with my cousin yesterday. His wife has been taking a leave of absence from the bank she works at because of the chronic respiratory problems she has had for the last few years. Earlier, she had been thinking of retiring in July 2020 but opted to stay for two more years. When the coronavirus came along, she changed her mind and decided she will retire in July after all. I can't say I blame her. She's quite a bit older than I am.

Then I have ANOTHER cousin, the little sister of the first one, who retired a year ago. As the country goes to hell, everyone who can seems to be bailing.

Sorry . . .
Somehow I thought I had posted about it.
I'm sure I posted that around the end of the year they
had offered a 'buy out' package . . And I applied for
it and got turned down. And now we are working
extremely shorthanded.

I think it was Monday afternoon (and I was on overtime
for the meeting) they assembled us and told all of us
(that was there) that our production was being moved to
Richmond VA and that our production facility was being
shut down July 26.

I am ready to retire.

And they told us there would be severance packages (for
those who are eligible and I am certain I am) and that
we would be paid for accrued vacation time. Also that
after the severance package runs out we will be eligible
for un-employment.

I also have the feeling that I will be put on the de-commissioning
crew. . . which, if I am right, means I'll be working past
July 26. But I haven't heard of any planning along those
lines. Yet.

Zim.
