Micro > can you or I should say ARE you allowed to disable or turn off windows updates?
Well Boss,
One of the last things the guru did before leaving us
was to give me the super secret administrators pass
word. That at least gave me a prayer of solving this
problem. And, yes, it appears I can disable the windows
updates . . and I started doing that. I think it helped.
I hear you on windows bloatware . . . Some of them contain
patches to keep the 'bad guys' from hacking your systems . .
But I couldn't tell you which. Also, I'm pretty sure all
those patches are stored somewhere - and can be deleted.
Google also has a subdirectory somewhere in ones user profile
that I think saves every piece of java google ever
runs and it gets bigger and bigger as time goes on. I
deleted a lot of the older stuff in there . . . and my
browsing got slow for a bit till it had 're-acquired'
the java code I needed most often. (Saved several gigabytes
of space.)
I hate thinking about it . . . But I may have to buy a cheap
windows 10 desktop when I do my taxes next year.
Zim.
