We'll doubtless discover if that is a position local police are taught to use. If it is, he will have a defence. But his department absolutely must change its methods. And, of course, George Floyd's family will sue them and win millions.
From my own, non-police-trained perspective, I can't imagine how that position would ever do anything but kill a person. So it is hard not to see a malicious intention and that this cop was a bad apple. In which case, he is likely to end up in jail for some time.
Glad they have video recordings these days so the bad apples get caught and the good ones exonerated.
Wish it was possible to rewind. Two wasted lives. Over nothing, as far as I know.
