I won't argue against that. And they do get more.
As I see it, the average floor sweep doesn't much care
whether or not the Interstate Highways are well maintained
or not . . . But the trucking magnate who pays the floor
sweep certainly needs well maintained highways. (Paid for
with tax dollars. Granted mostly paid for by the wealthy.)

But I don't think the uber rich paying uber taxes should
have a free hand in picking who writes the laws.

At the other end of the spectrum I think you and I are
in agreement. Welfare addicts should not be allowed to
vote. Just as I don't want the uber rich 'appointing'
our elected officials so they will do things to make
them richer I also do not want pandering politicians
'buying' the welfare vote so they can plunder the treasury
in their name.

Absolutely not. Those who give more should have more say. That's different.

I don't believe in charging people more for things just because they are wealthy. If they're being charged more, they should get more. And if YOU, Zimbler, want more influence over our laws, all you have to do is to pay more.

The people who give the most to the country, either through military service or taxes, should get the most from the country. This is fair. What's more, this system would ensure that elections are won by voters who have a vested interest in the well-being of the nation. This nonsense about "everyone gets a vote" is ruining us. If a person contributes nothing, he should get very little in return.
