I've been worried about this.
NY was so dominant as a coronavirus hotspot, that the increase and decline there masks the broad reality.
Yesterday, the appearance of general decline in the US numbers changed direction (using a day of the week comparison), in spite of the decline in NY. That means the virus may be spreading again, but on a much broader basis.
It could just be a statistical anomaly. But it could also be the first indication that the US opening up model is going to be catastrophic from a medical perspective.
Unless folks actually do lockdown, they won't earn the reopen. That isn't a moral or political statement. It's a comment about the way this virus works. It will kill people in high volumes if we let it.
