In the race among the countries with sociopathic populist leaders to win the COVID 19 race, it looks like a three way gallop between the US, Russia and Brazil.
The US is clearly far in the lead but it got a head start, laying the groundwork by not providing adequate PPE, locking down late, recommending quack cures and trying to extort people to return to work before establishing control.
Seeing Trump's incompetence, Putin and Bolsonaro are leading the chase. In particular, Bolsonaro in Brazil is starting to rack up competitive numbers. He will race into third, most likely today, and may overtake Russia within the week.
But can he overtake Trump's America? Well, until now, Trump's incompetence was incomparable, but his efforts to promote covid 19 have been held back by competent governors and some parts of the medical establishment. Learning from his mistakes, perhaps Bolsonaro will figure how to kill more people and in a month or two, catch the USA. We will see.
