...the mask reduces the size of the area one can contaminate with a sneeze or a cough. It doesn't eliminate it. Masks have no effect on farts which seem impervious to anything short of putting a roll of saran wrap around ya head.

Getting the R0 (a measure of the rate of spread) down is the only way the virus will be eradicated. Masks (like vaccines) are intended to make society safer, not the subject wearing them. (P100 masks WILL make the subject safer, though.)

I read a while back that unless the majority of the population (I think about 70 percent) wear masks, there is no benefit. In other words, if just half wear them religiously, it is no better than if no one wears them. Interesting...)

With regard to sheltering in place, it's only the case that people will be safe if "the place" is virus free. Jails are contaminated and, because of the influx of new felons, will remain so.

I don't support setting felons free, though. The virus SHOULD just be a reason why no one wants to be jailed. If it kills felons, then so be it. That would be good for America.
