Was there an oil reservoir somewhere you was supposed to fill?

A few years ago... 2, I think... the local Sears Home Store was going out of business. By the time I took a look inside, most items that might have been of interest to me were already gone, but I did buy their last rototiller, a "mini-tiller" that was probably too small for my needs, but it was only $99 so why not?

It sat unused in my garage for a few years until yesterday when I finally added the 40:1 mixture fuel (fresh gas) and gave it a whirl. It worked reasonably well, though it didn't go as deep as I'd have liked. Actually, I was pretty happy. I tilled half of one of the areas I tarped last fall, so that would be 1,000 sq ft. Then I watered the same area to make it softer, spread horse manure on top and set out to till it again.

At some point, about halfway through, I stopped, refilled the fuel tank and . . . that's all she wrote. The tiller wouldn't re-start. I thought possibly it was flooded, but no such luck. Even today it wouldn't start.

My wife and I checked the spark plug and the machine is sparking. We checked the air filter and it wasn't too bad. My wife wiped the piston housing with her finger and . . . metal bits. Ow. That's not good. We could be wrong, but I'm out of ideas and I think the situation is hopeless. This mini-tiller will be going to the dump. @#%!!! 90 minutes of use.

I guess this is an argument for buying things that have a warranty and NOT letting them sit for years before putting them to use.
