From a UK viewpoint, our response model and performance is following Italy's and Spain's closely enough, but two weeks behind, that we can learn from their experiments and their mistakes.
They have done the hard work, massively reducing the number of cases by strong isolation backed by swingeing fines. They are testing a phased return to normalcy. We will get to see the outcome before we reach the place on the curve they have done. I suspect they are making a mistake, but hope they are right that there are few enough cases in the general population that they can trace and protect against (masks etc) a viral surge.
The US is perhaps three weeks behind Spain and at the top of the chart. Absolute madness to reopen.
