To be fair, Trump isn't a capitalist. Adam Smith didn't think like Trump. Capitalism doesn't have to be brutal. The brutality comes from people who are sociopathic and care not a jot for the common good. Not from ideas about how to develop the wealth of nations.

It's impressive that Trump is targeting two triumphs from the year 1776 at the same time. Adam Smith's famous tome. And the principles in the US Declaration of Independence concerning life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

So the Republican position is employers should get a waiver of liability if their workplace turns out to be unhealthy, but employees should lose unemployment benefits if they won't return to that unhealthy workplace. Will American capitalism survive the current Republican Party?
