Huh! Americans can be the origin of pandemics too? Like China?

The USA. Not better. Not worse. Not exceptional. Just like everyone else. Similar. But also it's own thing.

It's such a peculiar characteristic that some Americans are insulted when told they are ordinary, or that some ideas which come from America are better or worse than those from elsewhere. How needy are they?

Ordinary is not bad. It's the human condition to be alike. No one can rescind laws of nature or make the world simple. Politics involves choices that are usually not between good and evil but between the benefits and costs of one idea versus the benefits and costs of another. Every hard decision by every politician everywhere involves trade-offs.

Demonising China because it is the source of the coronavirus is damned silly. Sure, the Chinese made mistakes. The US made its own ones. Imperfection is universal. Use the mirror. Acknowledge the warts. Move on.

Homonoia is not a new idea. Requiring proskynesis before American exceptionalism is an insult to liberty-lovers everywhere.
