I used to wonder how Hitler was able to whip a people into such an unthinking frenzy that normal Germans were able to participate in the extermination of a race. It was before my time and struck me like something out of a science fiction novel, more surreal than real, hardly the kind of thing that could happen again. Then, the other day, a particularly unsophisticated creature from the Pffart3 board said she wished our President, who has done nothing to her - he's just not the leader she wants - was dead. She really means it, too, this woman who prances around with her flowers and sunsets, evoking peace but wishing death. It sent a chill down my spine. I realized that she's been mind wiped through political craft, just as Germany's people were so long ago. I do think she's in the minority but hardly alone.

As we enter a new, Greater Depression, I find the emergence of this level of hate, in individuals of simple but susceptible nature, deeply disturbing. It will only grow.
