Turns out three reports were just published on this subject.

Thank goodness there are people wrestling with the problems in non-magical ways out there. Not pretending there isn't a problem. Accepting there is one and figuring how to deal with it.

How do we avoid a second wave of coronavirus until we get a vaccine?

Not sure it's possible unless people remain imprisoned at home for several months (the Wuhan model), or they isolate and wear hazardous equipment when leaving home (but there are equipment shortages).

Even going to the store means the virus will remain active, ready to reemerge.

Maybe until then we just live mostly isolated lives, avoid overwhelming health services, build community immunity and hope the thing ends soon.

Earliest date for a vaccine that I am aware of is September. 6 months of isolation would be VERY boring indeed.
