Same story as everywhere.

It's presumably partly because, with tests and test administrators in short supply, governments wish to avoid corrupting the statistics with large numbers whose cause of death is hard to assign. People in care homes often die for other causes (age, flu etc).

I wonder if there are charts of elderly mortality rates over each of the last five years for comparison with 2020. It would be useful to get a sense of how many more deaths are probably explained by corona virus, but more work to find than I have time for.
