Trade-offs are possible. Even in life-threatening situations.
But lets look at the Trump administration and Fox News' logic.
The overarching aim is to get Trump reelected.
To get Trump reelected requires cheating at the ballot box.
It requires the economy to be switched back on as quickly as possible.
It requires undermining and/or suppression of information about the deadliness of the virus.
It requires a sociopathic lack of interest in the welfare of America's most vulnerable citizens so that the aim of getting Trump reelected comes above the many lives that will be lost by disregarding the medical advice.
This, of course, is the model gradually revealing itself on Fox News. It is vile and contemptible.
When folks come to this webpage and attempt to insinuate pieces of the strategy into the conversation, they should know they will be treated as supportive of what is effectively murder of the elderly and those with existing conditions.
This notion would, of course, be paranoid. Except that Trump and his supporters pursued a similar course with their child separation policy at the US border. They also winked at his impeachment-worthy attempt to coerce Ukraine. And they are checking all the boxes on this list too.
Contempt is just a small piece of what I feel for people assisting Trump and Fox News in disseminating their strategy. Utter disgust is more like it. It's a strategy that is evil in every way.
