Yeah, laws like that are typically aimed at hunters, see a deer or whatever when they're driving along, come to screeching halt, and take a shot without ever getting out of the vehicle. Generally, Not. A. Good. Idea. Cover yer ears ... 'cuz yer poor eardrums are fixin' to take a severe beatin'!
Friend told me years ago 'bout ridin' in another friend's pickup ... they were headin' down a dirt road out in the middle of nowhere when he hit the brakes, pulled his 12 gauge down off the rack, pointed it out the passenger side window (right in front of my friend's face), and pulled the trigger on a nearby turkey. My friend's ears were ringin' solid for 3 days, but the more immediate problem wuz the empty shotgun shell that ejected right into his face. Yep, that shotgun was a semi-automatic. He wasn't too happy.
