There are only two candidates in it, for all the blather. And it looks like the socialist-progressive side is smaller than the centre left-moderate right one.
Sanders and Warren have done the work of John the Baptist. They are laying the path for a future candidate of the left. But the socialists and progressives won't win it this time.
Sanders, whose socialism is on the left wing of the party, stopped Warren, whose progressive positions were more electable with the whole party, from getting traction. Actually, when she trespassed into socialist territory with her healthcare ideas, she also ruined it herself. Sanders' supporters stayed with Sanders. But she lost the centre left.
I'd say her supporters go about equally to Sanders and Biden once she pulls out. Which means Sanders is doomed to a tranche of about 40%. And Biden snags the rest.
Or put another way, Sanders dooms the progressive agenda by setting out his stall in an unelectable part of the Democratic spectrum.
