Yes, the response from Republicans is that the House didn't try hard enough to get the evidence from the White House nor did they expend enough effort getting witnesses to testify. The fact that Trump prevented the House from getting the documents or hearing from witnesses appears to be of no concern to the Republicans.

They should have just tried harder, eh? Not sure what that would have constituted, perhaps sending the Capital police to arrest Bolton and Mulveny? Or raiding the White House offices and carrying off file cabinets and PC's?

The Senate voted Tuesday to block a Democratic bid to subpoena White House emails, memos and other documents related to President Trump’s pressure campaign on Ukraine that is at the heart of the impeachment case against him. The vote was 53 to 47 to table the amendment to the trial rules, with Republicans prevailing.
