It's such a jolt to America that its White House doesn't just spin, it lies relentlessly, and not just in ways it might get away with but things any sensible person will notice immediately.
They keep making the point about not having due process in the House, but they had the opportunity to present documents and witnesses in relation to Trump's actions and chose instead to obstruct the impeachment committee, as well as the GAO as we now learn.
But the Senate trial is where due process, in the form of a defence, takes place. And once again, the White House is obstructing its defence and making a plausible exoneration impossible by demanding a dismissal. And McConnell is conspiring with Trump to hide the trial from the public gaze.
Everyone knows Trump is guilty. Particularly the GOP. We also know they are trying to minimise the damage done by ignoring the truth. That they hope the best way to proceed is to cheat the trial and cheat the next election. But if they succeed in that, America as a rule of law country is over.
