I can think of pros and cons. But I haven't yet got an opinion about whether it was sensible. He was a bad actor. It was also certainly a risk. Assassinating enemies tends to result in the reverse. So usually it is ill-advised.

I hope the Pentagon has a plan. If it was just Trump shooting from the hip, it will turn out badly.

My opinion will rather depend on which of these turns out to be true. Although even if the Pentagon has a plan, it may not work out the way they hope.

Trump, of course, wants a war around about now.
