Dateline had this case on today on MSNBC.
What a case, a 12yr killed & his mother's ex-boyfriend was accused, without any evidence, except he is black the mother is white they live in upstate NY, 90%+ white.
It took a few years & a new DA (she ran promising justice for the child) for the case to get to court. The first time it was thrown out for novel & unproven DNA testing.
The second trial Nick & his team chose to have the judge decide the case.
After three days of deliberation, the judge found him not guilty.
That's not the end, the DA Mary Rain got her head handed to her. Gotta keep a look out, Trump might appoint her, his track record sucks!

Jun 29, 2018 — A state court Thursday handed down a decision in grievances against former St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain. The board suspended Rain's license to practice law for two years, based on its review of complaints of professional misconduct against her.
Judges in the Third Judicial Department ruled Rain violated 24 distinct rules stemming from charges of professional misconduct filed in March and July 2017. The judges called Rain "a seasoned prosecutor" who exhibited "a pattern of disregard for defendants' rights." In the decision, they also wrote Rain demonstrated a "lack of candor" during the investigation. You can read the ruling here.
Rain served as DA in the county from 2013 to 2017. Her tenure was marked by high turnover in the office, scandals, and at least a half dozen ethical complaints. She had been under investigation for two years. Last month, Rain shuttered her private practice in Ogdensburg, citing family reasons. Neither Mary Rain nor the attorney who represented her at the grievance hearings returned calls for comment.
