Chinese parts, hidden ownership, growing scrutiny: Inside America's biggest voting machine maker

Nearly half of all Americans who vote in the 2020 election will use a machine from Election Systems & Software. Yet the company and the wider voting machine industry have not been at the forefront of most election discussions.

Despite a new level of scrutiny, the company, commonly known as ES&S, has maintained secrecy around elements of its supply chain, ownership and security.
