Indeed. They even had someone making an alternative unemployment index.

What is going on at the minute is that the Fed has aggressively sought to avert a recession by massive interventions in the debt market. This will likely delay the recession for a while, but at the expense of increased US debt and/or a lower value of the dollar.

Chris Hayes discussed an issue I thought about when the employment # came out.

Many republicans, including Trump, denied the employment # when Obama was in office.
At one point Trump said he 'heard' unemployment could be as high as 40%, and the # were being cooked. Jack Welch even fanned these bogus claims.

That's the big difference in the parties, democrats are willing to believe # and facts, we don't seek a conspiracy theory just because we want the republicans to be hurt.
