However, if he refuses to participate, he can continue to condemn the Democrats and attack the process, something that his base WILL understand. This way he can continue to claim that impeaching him is unconstitutional and his base will believe him, which of course is ludicrous because Impeachment is spelled out in black and white in the Constitution.
